    Careless Whisper - Brian McKnight

Yahoo!!! I've been posted to OCS (Officer Cadet School), meaning if i survive the difficult 9 months of hell, i'll be a 2nd Lieutenant! Praise God!

I guess you can say that i'm very excited and happy about this. I half expected to be posted to SISPEC (School of Infantry SPECialists) and so you can imagine the smile on my face when i saw the words OCS on my posting. I wonder what did i do to deserve this? hmm... oh well. Now my fears about them not making me an officer because i'm Australian PR is now gone out the window. (Thanks for assuring me, Melvin sir!)

When i look back, i'm truely thankful for the friends God has allowed me to have in BMT. Of the laughs that we shared (as well as the cursing, but you never read this!), i can't believe that it's over. I'm gonna miss staying in the same room with Section 2, miss the times where we would stay up at night eating cup noodles (with Pravin stealing bites from everyone) and trading stories or jokes until lights out. Keep in touch guys!

    1/2

"All the privates please stick to your left." A sergeant said as we made our way to the ferry that would transport us back to mainland singapore. I have never felt this feeling before; a feeling of well-deserved pride. I did it. I survived 3 months of BMT and am now a private.

Well, the parade was almost disrupted when it rained most of the whole afternoon, but thankfully, it stopped in time for us to begin. I didn't take part in the initial part of the parade because i'd missed the 3 rehearsals (i had a high fever and was sick, remember?) so i had to wait until the last part of the parade before i could join in. I felt a bit sad, wishing that i could stand with my friends as they marched into the parade square. But i was still weak from my sickness so i doubt that i would have been able to stand still for that long period of time without falling over.

Ah well, all in all, i got to throw my hat in the air like everyone else and dance around like a crazy decapitated chicken with my friends. If you were there to see it, you can tell that we were all happy to have completed BMT.

We are rewarded with a long and well-deserved holiday. So here i am, lazying around until the 19th of June, where i have to report to my next posting (which i would find out on the 16th).

Quite a long holiday, huh? Actually, to tell you the truth, i had actually planned to fly back to Melbourne during this holiday time to visit you all. But sadly, i couldn't get a ticket due to the fact that a lot of students are on holidays (after their exams) and so i cannot get a flight back to singapore. So disappointing, huh? I know, i miss you too.

Well, i have to go now. You all take care now!

    Fever....

Well, this sucks... after i booked in on Sunday night, at about 2am, i woke up with a high fever....

Woke up at 5am and i could barely stand without having to support myself.

I took my temperature and was startled when i saw 38.8 degrees C!

Man, this cannot be happening! I knew i shouldn't have frolicked around in the rain wearing only my underwear last saturday!

    .........

I saw the doctor and he told me that i had a very high fever (surprise!) and gave me 3 days to go home and rest up. I guess it was in the Lord's hands... Although i don't wanna be sick at my last week in BMT!!!~!
So i went home to rest; occasionally taking the useless medicine that the army sickbay gives, only to rest again. So yeah, that was basically my life this whole week.

    I hate being sick...

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, eat medicine, Sleep, Sleep.

    ...

    Did i mention Sleep?

On the third day where i was supposed to come back, my fever still hasn't subsided (it did for a bit, then went back up again...) so i visited a nearby clinic and got 3 more days of MC.

*sigh* the fever didn't go down until the next day after i'd gone to see the doctor. But even still, my body was pretty wrecked from all the fighting. But at least i can stay in the living room and watch 4 hours worth of mindless cartoon shows on cartoon network (the commercials! Make it stop! It won't stop!!! @_@)

Must... resist... urge... to buy... laptop!

    .....

Well, i missed my last week in BMT, which includes my SOC test and my 24 click route march.... which means that i have to come back during my holiday and do it..........

    great...

But i guess the bright side of this is that i won't be in the parade when they have to stand still under the hot sun for 3 hours while a boring speaker talks about how these boys have become men and blah blah blah... because i did not attend the rehearsals. But i get to throw my hat with the others in the end :D
