    Unwell - Matchbox Twenty

I think i need a break... I can almost feel the edges of life rubbing my brain until it's raw. Could be because of the fast-paced life of singapore.
I think after i commission, i'll see if i can take a break and travel to some place nice and quiet. Like malaysia or batam, where i can relax at the beach and watch as teenage girls play beach volleyball and innocently ask me to come and play with them.
*sigh* But seriously, i do need a break... i've noticed that my mind is not functioning normally nowadays. Like how i tend to zone out when people are telling me things, and i start to speak nonsense sometimes (isn't that normal, Amoz?). I guess you can say that my mind is tired...
Oh no, am i on the edge of a depression?!

    .....

Well, pray that i'll be able to maintain my sanity until my next holiday. But yeah, the trip to malaysia/batam is possible... i haven't visited malaysia in quite a while, and it would be an interesting experience too.

    Anyways, news updates:
Mom is flying over to singapore monday night (yay! she'll be coming for my commissioning parade).
And i'll be getting my sword on friday! Finally! It's different from Dad's one. Instead of silver in colour, it's gold and black. Kinda nicer, but i don't think i'll be using it anytime soon. I mean, it's just for show.

Kate: Welcome back, Amoz! I read your blog post just now, so are you excited about commissioning in 3 weeks time?
Me: Oh, hello, Kate. Well, it's a weird feeling. I mean, i can't wait to finally commission after 9 months of training, but i know that when i put on my rank, a lot of responsibility would be expected of me.
Kate: So you're kinda hesitant about commissioning, huh?
Me: Well... i wouldn't say that. I mean, ok, in some way, yes, i am. But i gotta be more confident in myself, which should be my mindset now.
Kate: Then what rank will you be?
Me: 2nd Lieutenant. It's about 12 ranks above Private.
Kate: So what's so special about being commissioned?
Me: *smiles* The only difference i can think of at the moment is that when those people under me greet me, they have to salute me.
Kate: I see. So if i see you after you commission, i'll have to salute you as well?
Me: *laughs* No, only army personnel. But i can humour you if you want me to.
Kate: Well, anyway, i heard that you have shifted back to OCS instead of Khatib Camp today. Why is that?
Me: *tilts head* How did you know about that?
    Kate: I have my contacts...
Me: Hmm.... well, you got your facts right. I'm now in OCS because of the 3 weeks remaining. We gotta practice for the commissioning parade.
Kate: Whao, it takes you 3 weeks to practice for the parade?
Me: 2 weeks, actually. The first week we are to go for lectures and talks about how to be an officer and a gentleman.
Kate: How to be a gentleman? Boy, you must have created a very bad impression on them!
Me: Hey! What is that supposed to mean? I believe they're only teaching us this so that we can impress girls.
Kate: Hmm... well, i think you should attend it. Are you planning on getting a girlfriend?
    Me: *laughs* No.
    Kate: Why not?
    Me: A lot of reasons.
Kate: So basically what you're saying is that you're a shy boy? *giggles*
    Me: What? NO! I'm not!

    I Will Be Your Friend

    Tadaima!~
I'm back! How long has it been? 16 days? Time seemed to fly very fast during my stay in Thailand. Well, it's funny how when i stepped off the airplane onto the military airbase and was hit by the cold (and dry) wind was i reminded of melbourne and it's chilling weather. Thailand was, in some eerie and strange way, very similar to Myanmar when i was there about 4+ years ago. Of course, it could be due to the fact that they are neighbours and they both speak in a language that i cannot understand.

    Anyway, where was i?

Exercise Battleking wasn't that hard. I mean, i've been through worst and i'm just glad that it's over. Of course, i got to fire one round. The feeling of having the power of the shockwave shake body when you pull the trigger was indescribable. Now i just have to grab the video from my friend...
Other than that, thailand is a nice place to visit when it's cold. Or maybe it's just my thinking coz i've lived in (and love) cold countries. I had to wear about 3 layers of clothing (top) and a scarf plus wiggling into a sleeping bag when i slept out in the field. It was very nice and warm, i must admit, except when every night i had to wake up for sentry duty. You see, when we were firing, some villagers and kids would come about 100m away and watch us firing. We found out that they either just wanted to watch or are waiting for food from us. Anyway, most of the time we ignored them (although i- i mean, a few of my friends, not me, took the binoculars to check out the local girls [guys... *rolls eyes*]) but we had to maintain a sentry at night in case some of them came and run off with some of our stuff. (I doubt they can steal an arty shell, which weighs about 49kg, but one can never be too sure) So i had to wake up and remain alert (yeah right) for about 1 hour as the cold wind blew around me and froze my ears and other important parts of my body. But yeah, if i get the chance, i wouldn't mind visiting thailand again during the cold season. On the last day of our stay outfield, it got warmer and warmer. I felt very uncomfortable by then, but thank goodness that it was the last day of battleking. And when we fired the last round(s) (it was a salvo mission -> every gun fires at the same time), i grinned like an idiot (that i am) because i realised that we were one step closer to commissioning as officers.

    1 more month left.

    I can't wait!
